The Visiting International Student Program (VISP) at the Wake Forest University School of Law is the gateway for highly qualified international law students to pursue for-credit coursework at a top-ranked US law school. The VISP is designed to support your goals, whether you are seeking to enhance your academic record, build your credentials for employment or further graduate study, or refine your language and cross-cultural communication skills.

Our skilled advisors help you select appropriate courses based on your career goals, academic back­ground, schedule, and interests. At the completion of the program, you receive transcripts from the Wake Forest University School of Law and are awarded credits that can be transferred to your home institution.

As a visiting student at Wake Forest Law, you have access to world-class libraries, computing facilities, academic support resources, and accommodations in campus resi­dence halls. In classes and around campus, you interact with a diverse student body, providing numerous opportunities for cultural and language exchange.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Those interested in visiting should apply by May 1 for the Fall semester (starting in August) and by November 1 for the Spring semester (starting in January). To apply to the Visiting International Student Program, please follow these instructions to complete an online application:

  • Email llm@wfu.edu to express interest and for application instructions
  • Your home university should have a written agreement with Wake Forest Law, and you should have completed at least two semesters of study in law at your home university before beginning the Visiting International Student Program
  • Verification of enrollment and intention to study abroad letter from your home university
  • Current resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Proof of English Language proficiency: Either a TOEFL or IELTS score, or a letter from your home university attesting to your proficiency.
  • Official Transcripts: Please submit transcripts from each university or college that you have attended. Transcripts must be in the language of the institution, as well as in English, and should explain the University’s grading system.

ACADEMICS

As a Visiting International Student, you will enroll in a full-time program of study (minimum 9 credits) each semester you are enrolled at Wake Forest Law. Classes typically meet two to three times a week on campus. You will work closely with an academic advisor to select the courses that will help you accomplish your academic goals. You will have access to a broad range of courses offered at the law school, giving you the opportunity to study aspects of US law or dive deeper into specific areas such as environmental law, intellectual property law, human rights law, and others.


COSTS OF ATTENDANCE

Tuition and fees for the 2024-25 academic year will be posted in March 2024. Costs listed here are for one semester at the 2023-24 rates.

Health Insurance

Health insurance is required by the University for all degree-seeking students and offered as an option for those needing coverage. Students sponsored on the F-1 or J-1 visas will be required to hold a certain level of coverage. Please visit the Student Health Insurance Program website for more information.

Wellness Fee

Law students are assessed a Wellness Fee and have the option to waive the fee each semester. To access the waiver, log into WIN and click on the Personal tab. The “Waiver Request for the Wellness Fee” will be the last option. The 2023-2024 Wellness Fee is $394 ($197 per semester). Students electing to waive this fee must actively request the waiver each semester.
